ThE Happy Break-Up

The Happy Break-Up is a book that I've written, and it's a true labour of love. This book came about as a result of going through a break-up of my own, that was pretty rough. After days, weeks, maybe even months of being sad, I realized that I needed to do something to get my life back in order, and get back to the person I wanted to be.

I picked up a blank sketchbook, as my best ideas always come about through art and writing. I started thinking about my life, and who I was. And when I put the pen to the page, I came up with a prompt that said "Things That Make Me Happy" ... I left it blank, and moved onto the next page, and I continued until I had a whole bunch of things to think about.

Then I started filling them in. And as I started filling all these pages in, I began to feel happy. It made me realize that life was not as bleak as I made it out to be after the breakup.

My original completed sketchbook version of "Things that make me happy" - even just seeing this page makes me happy!

As I began progressing through the prompts, I found more and more things to smile about.

And as I showed my sketchbook around to a few trusted friends and family members, the feedback that I received told me that I had a really brilliant idea on my hands. I printed a mockup version of the book.

Good fortune befell me one day, when I randomly received a friend request on Facebook from a lovely woman named Ky-Lee Hanson, who I discovered was a publisher of women's interest books - Golden Brick Road Publishing. We struck up a partnership, and the book completely evolved under her guidance.

The Happy Break-Up contains hand-drawn quotes and art, colouring pages, along with equal parts prompts and wisdom nuggets that are all geared towards helping you get back to YOU, and create the best version of yourself. It's about self-esteem, self-confidence, and loving yourself to the fullest degree!
